About the RCEA

Founded in 1966, the Research Council Employees’ Association (RCEA) is a multi-bargaining unit union representing over 1,800 employees of the National Research Council of Canada.

The Association was founded to protect the interests of NRC employees and became a bargaining agent following the implementation of the Public Service Staff Relations Act (PSSRA) in 1967.

The RCEA is the certified bargaining agent for six groups and categories and represents the majority of NRC employees. These groups and categories are: AD (Administrative Support) Group, AS (Administrative Services) Group, CS (Computer Systems Administration) Group, OP (Operational) Category, PG (Purchasing and Supply) Group, and TO (Technical) Category.
