Dear members,

As you are all aware the Policy on COVID-19 Vaccination for the Core Public Administration (CPA) was suspended on June 20, 2022.  Crown corporations and separate agencies (NRC) will also be suspending their vaccine requirements. With the suspension of vaccination requirements, members placed on unpaid leave may return to work. The NRC assure us that employees can resume their duties as seamlessly as possible.  If you require any assistance or have any questions, please contact the RCEA office at office@rcea.ca

I would like to emphasize that this is a suspension of the mandate, not a revocation.  The Government of Canada says they will not hesitate to make adjustments based on the latest public health advice and science to keep Canadians safe. This could include the re-introduction of vaccination mandates in federally regulated workplaces in the Fall, if needed.

For those members who were on administrative leave, if you have not been in contact with your manager to arrange your return to regular work duties, please do so as soon as possible.

We have been advised that members who are back on strength as of June 20, 2022, will receive their first pay by July 6, 2022.

Federal workplaces must follow Health Canada’s Public Service Occupational Health Program (PSOHP) occupational health guidance for all federal departments and agencies. The guidance provides updated recommendations regarding preventive practices to be used in a layered approach to control the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace.

I wish you all a safe, healthy and happy summer.
