Happy Spring to all Members,

The RCEA would like to welcome new stewards:

Cara Pelletier, Ottawa M54
Jack Saini, Vancouver
Arnold Tabaro, Ottawa M55
Allan Whetter, Ottawa M6

All of their contact information may be found under “The People”.

Negotiations are ongoing and some new collective agreement settlements have happened in the core Public Service unions, where Treasury Board is the Employer.  The RCEA and NRC, as a separate employer, have not begun negotiations yet.  In anticipation of NRC receiving mandates, a number of bargaining committee meetings have been scheduled. These are not bargaining sessions with NRC but rather preparatory meetings for the RCEA. No meetings have yet been scheduled for the CS group as the core CS Group has not yet settled.

March 20, 2017 – OP Group – to prepare demands.
March 27, 2017 – AD, AS and PG Groups – to prepare demands.
April 5, 2017 – TO Group – to select bargaining team.

We anticipate that bargaining dates for the TO Group will be established shortly.

You still have time to join your team.  If you are interested or know of members who may be, please contact Joan Van Den Bergh at the RCEA office at joan@rcea.ca.

The Winter months have been very busy for the RCEA.  Numerous consultation meetings with the NRC have taken place: TO Mapping Exercise update, Work Place Violence Prevention Policy, Joint Consultation Committee, National Occupational Health and Safety, and LLMCC. RCEA Management and RCEA Finance committees have met.  Bargaining Agents and National Joint Council meetings have occurred including Union Management Relations committee and Service Wide Occupational Health and Safety Committee.  I also attended a Public Service Mental Health in the Workplace workshop.

Preparations have already begun for the Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, October 24, 2017.  Updates and notifications will be sent to all members in early Fall.

Do not hesitate to contact me or the RCEA office at any time.

Sincerely,
